What makes something a false god. By obvious definition, anything that becomes a god other than the one true living God. Anything can become a false god. But one easy way to tell when something has become a false god, is simply to question it and watch the wrath explode from the “worshiper”. Here are a few examples: 1. Abortion 2. Climate Change 3. Environmentalism 4. Racism 5. Black Lives Matter 6. Donald Trump 7. Joe Biden 8. Socialism/Progressivism 9. Democrat 10. Republican 11. COVID-19 (there are a number of denominations of this religion) 12. Evolution 13. Sports 14 Religion.
If you try to discuss any of these subjects with SOME (not all) proponents, you immediately leave the realm of logical rational thought and wind up in the emotional (not logical) portion of their brains. Disagree with the major tenets of their “religion” and you are likely to experience either anger/wrath, or are written off as an ignorant heathen and you need to go away or be silenced. We are developing the “cancel culture” down to an art form. Instead of discussing the issue, we simply attack the person making the “argument” and call him ugly names and diminish his character. Then we “cancel” him. Then we are free to avoid any potential validity of the argument. We refuse to seek truth, instead settle into the comforting arms of our false god. We have become a nation of idolaters.
Can you be a proponent of any of these above items and still go to church and be a “Christian”?? Ask yourself if you can discuss the subject with someone who disagrees with you, or do you just want to tell them why they are wrong. Notice that “religion” made the sacred pole list. Yes, for some even their “religion” manages to displace the real one true and living God. Please don’t you disagree with what I know to be true about my religion and my “God”, or I will cancel you just like the liberal cancels the conservative (or vice versa).
Whatever the subject, if it takes the place of primary importance in your life, it just may be your “god”. This subject just may be your “sacred pole.” Ever hear of the commandments that discuss having no gods before the one true and living God? Ever hear of the commandments that discuss not making any idols or false gods? Sure you can go to church. Probably the best place for you. Cause you need to repent. Good luck. Praying for you.
